Born and raised in Ohio, I had an interest in science and technology from an early age. Despite there being no programming courses in my high school, I taught myself BASIC on my TI-84 calculator and wrote many utilities and some games on that machine. Outside of academics, I was also active in the Boy Scouts and 4H; and ran cross country and played tennis.
At Kent State University, I double-majored in Physics and Computer Science, and had some great experiences working in various National Labs.
I went to The Ohio State University for graduate school, and earned my Masters of Physics studying heavy ion collision physics as a part of the ALICE collaboration.
